A play-by-play of runners’ emotions on the first ‘warm’ run of the year.
It’s been a tough winter for many of us, one of those winters that just seems never-ending. We’ve experienced record rainfall, and many of us were forced to log one-too-many kilometres on the treadmill as a result.
So you’ll have to forgive us when we see 17 degree Celsius highs in the forecast and decide it’s time to break out our splits shorts and singlets. With spring technically underway (despite what it may look like outside your window right now), we thought we’d illustrate a quick play-by-play of what every runner is thinking when it appears winter is FINALLY over.
- That moment the weatherman says it’s going to be 17 degrees the next day.
- You feel like you’ve been preparing your body for this all winter long.
- Then it really sinks in – winter is FINALLY over.
- But you’re still hesitant when you step outside. It’s been so cold, for so long…
- Now, you don’t want to get too excited. The weather could dip back down next week.
- But for now it’s gloriously warm and you just want to run.
- You can’t get over how freeing it feels to not be confined by tights and layers anymore.
- When you’re done with your run, you stroll back into your house, happy as a clam.
