Saucony releases the Endorphin Pro 2, its fastest shoe to date

The original Saucony Endorphin Pro received rave reviews as a genuine contender to Nike’s Vaporfly and Alphafly. So it’s little surprise that its successor, the Endorphin Pro 2, sticks closely to a winning formula. The big-ticket items – a carbon-plate, Saucony’s PWRRUN midsole foam and the SPEEDROLL technology – all return, with only a few minor adaptions to the upper of the shoe. Perhaps the biggest change, then, is a visual one – the race-flag colourway makes the Endorphin Pro 2 stand out from the crowd.

The most versatile super shoe?

While the Endorpin Pro 2 is undoubtedly built for race day, it gains extra points as a shoe that can be used effectively at a variety of paces. That’s because it doesn’t feel quite as aggressive as the Nike Vaporfly and there’s ample cushioning for slower miles as well as intervals and race-day efforts. For this reason, if you’re in the market for a fast shoe that can nonetheless double as a daily workhorse, the Endorphin Pro 2 scores highly indeed. 

Minor updates to the upper 

One of the few, minor updates to the shoe is a lacing system that allows for a more locked-in fit. This is thanks to an additional loophole about halfway up the lacing system, which holds the top of your foot nice and steady when you’re on the move. It’s a small update but a welcome one.

PWRRUN PB foam and SPEEDROLL technology

Two big features of this shoe, alongside its carbon plate, is the PWRRUN PB foam and SPEEDROLL technology. The foam uses compressed Pebax beads in an internal lattice structure for a propulsive, springy ride. The SPEEDROLL tech, meanwhile, is designed to create a smooth transition from heel to toe-off. The result is a shoe that feels fast and efficient, without compromising too heavily on comfort. 

A credible alternative to the Vaporfly

The Endorphin Pro 2 doesn’t feel quite as poppy and propulsive as the Nike Vaporfly, but it’s undoubtedly a shoe that will propel its wearers to PBs. Moreover, it’s more versatile than the Vaporfly and, a bit cheaper, too. As any updates to the shoe are minor, fans of the original Endorphin Pro will equally enjoy its successor.
