It’s that magical time of year again – and no, we’re not just talking about the countdown to Christmas. We’re talking about the arrival of our personalised Strava Year in Sport recaps for 2025. Launching for all app users on Monday 8 December, this Strava summary will show how far we ran, how high we climbed, our most-trodden segment and a lot more.

But how will our results compare to those of the global Strava population of over 180 million? Joyfully, we’ve already been given the gift of information about global Strava habits this year – so here is the three most popular segments in the world.

How Strava collated its results

To build its global Year in Sport report for 2025, Strava analysed public activities recorded on the platform between 1 September 2024 and 30 August 2025. The report also encompasses survey data from 30,494 respondents, including Strava users and a random sample of active people who don’t use Strava.

1. ‘CP East Drive Terrace to 86th’

Strava
  • Location: New York City, USA

The crown for the most-attempted Strava segment over the past 12 months, of all those that exist in the world, goes to this one in the Big Apple. Despite its relatively bland title, this segment through Central Park – the ‘CP’ – has a grand status among runners, no doubt because it is situated in one of the most populous and visited cities on the planet.

There are so many Strava segments in New York City that, admittedly, we lost hope trying to find it on the map. But it is in here somewhere…

2. ‘GBK Loop

Strava
  • Location: Jakarta Selaton, Indonesia

The second most-run Strava segment over the past year is in Indonesia – and it’s a very satisfying (almost) 1km loop, which is as flat as a pancake.

According to Strava, Indonesia deserves extra kudos, because it is home to some of the hardiest athletes in the world when it comes to heat. In fact, 76% of activities recorded on Indonesia’s Riau Islands were done in temperatures above 26.7ºC, which is more activities than anywhere else. Next up was Sarawak in Malaysia, where 68% of activities were recorded in temperatures above this mark, then Bangkok in Thailand at 66%.

3. ‘Tiro 1km

Strava
  • Location: Sao Paulo, Brazil

Completing the global running segment podium is this Brazilian route, which is a slightly downhill stretch in Ibirapuera Park – a leafy, runner-friendly arena that offers respite from city life.
