11 year old Tilly Williams smashes World Record

Tilly Williams

Tilly Williams, aged only 11, has smashed the International Age Record for the 5000m race at the South Australian State Championships held on November 17 2023.

Running a time of 17:22:70, Tilly beat the previous world age-graded record held by Mia Guillergan of 17:41:03,  by an impressive 19 seconds.

The Championships were held at the South Australia Athletics Stadium in Mile End. As the youngest finalist competing against women in their late teens and twenties, Tilly placed 6th overall out of 23 in the Open Race.

This incredible achievement is not out of character for Tilly. At 11 years old, she is the reigning SA state champion for the Under 14’s 3000m, has broken 1500m state records, and won the SA Cross Country for 2023 in both the Under 12 and Under 14 age groups. Additionally, Tilly is currently representing South Australia for the National Track and Field Championships.

Tilly’s passion for running shines through her accomplishments. She loves to run, and Tilly says that it makes her “feel free.”

A massive congratulations to Tilly on her astounding achievement from the team at Runner’s World. We’re so excited to see where the future takes you.
